GenCon 2010

I just got back from Gen Con 2010. I haven't been since 1998. It was big fun. I did well in all the events I entered and will most likely be heading down next year. The following is a summary of the events I took part in and how I placed:
  • Malifaux 30 Soulstone tournament. First Place with Perdita led Guild. 24 points.
  • Malifaux 35 Soulstone tournament. Third Place with Perdita led Guild. 20 points.
  • Gen Con Bowl Bloodbowl tournament. Best Painted with Lizardmen. 2 wins 2 losses.
  • Gen Con Miniature Painting Competition. First Place in the Wyrd Miniatures single figure category with Francisco Ortega.
I can't say enough good things about this con. Big thanks to Wyrd Miniatures for running events and to Majortusk for organizing Gen Con Bowl.

As an aside, if you want to spend too much on dinner, I highly recommend St. Elmo's Steakhouse. They've been open since 1902 and know a thing or three about how it should be done.

Chomping @ the bit?

Horse test. This is the first horse I've ever painted. Went for a simple brown scheme. Nothing too inspiring. From Warlord's Pike & Shotte range. It's basically practice so when I get to Rupert and Charles I'm not breaking ground.

Where'd he go?

I'm still here. I just need to learn how to use a camera. Preferably a brand new camera more suitable for taking pictures of littles.

I just got back from Historicon. It was great fun and I will certainly be going again next year. I got to play my first game of DBA. Special thanks to Ted G. for the introduction. At some point my short attention span will see me putting together an army or four for that fine game.

I entered Warlord's supremely characterful Sharp Shooter in the painting competition and managed to win Best of Show.

The following is the recently finished(mostly) Judge of Malifaux fame.

Again, apologies for the mediocre photos. I'll get around to sorting that out sometime soon.

School's Out For Summer

Just like it says on the tin: I'm done for the semester. Output should increase. Here be Francisco Ortega of Malifaux fame.

First!

I'm mostly here because http://greenstuffandbrass.blogspot.com/ is running a contest. They have really nice things. I recently picked up their fire pit set which I plan to use for some Malifaux scenery. Malifaux is rad. Apparently the movie Rad has not been released since 1986. Laserdisc what.

If you're still reading this you might want to start looking for a life. From here on in, it's going to be nerd city.

In three weeks I will be done with this semester. I will have an inordinate amount of time on my hands. Time that I will use to paint toy soldiers. I am going to start with the Guild from Malifaux. After that I will be working on a Dwarf team for Blood Bowl. After that I will be working on a lot of English Civil War business. http://www.warlordgames.co.uk/ has really nice things. See their Pike & Shotte collection. Guild, Dwarves, Royalists. Plan subject to change.

Purifying Flame on Green Stuff base.
